She makes a call to John Silva to locate Krist and have him go to the house and also to find her a private detective. After he refuses her requests and advise that she call the lawyer she calls Rosemary Carroll  and finds out that she is on vacation. She calls several detectives from the yellow pages. The first guy she rejects and the second guy, Tom Grant, is hired to track down Kurt immediately. Grant boards a flight to Seattle; Courtney instructs him to check every dealer's house, don't try to get him to go back to rehab, tell him I don't care, have one guy watch the house, don't stop dealers from going to the house or he will just go to theirs, search every room including garage and do the same with the house in Carnation.
She then calls the police because he doesn't, “he is too stupid”.

Courtney called his office in Beverly Hills. She tells him someone was using her husband's credit card and she wants him to try to find out who it was. He takesn another investigator named Ben Klugman with him to meet Courtney at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. Courtney tells them that her husband is Kurt Cobain and that he had just left a drug rehab. She said she lied to the credit card company and had his card canceled. She wants Tom to call the credit card company and find out what the attempted activities were on this canceled card. Courtney tells them about a story she had planted with the Associated Press the previous evening. The story alleged that Courtney had overdosed and was in the hospital.
Later that afternoon she says she thinks Kurt wants a divorce... She mentions a prenuptial agreement, Courtney says she didn't know for sure where Kurt was. She says he might be in Seattle. Tom finds out later that Cali the nanny had seen Kurt at the house on Saturday.
Courtney asks Tom to find someone in Seattle to watch a drug dealer's apartment and other locations in case Kurt turned up, but doesn't tell them to watch the Lake Washington house. Tom sub-contracts a P.I. firm in Seattle for the surveillance.

Eric shows up at the hotel and Courtney tells him to get back on the plane to Seattle. She calls Niler for some drugs. She then calls Wendy, Kurt's mom to pick up Francis.
Niler shows up and gives her some bad drugs that make her arm break out in a rash. She calls downstairs to have the concierge bring her Benadryl, meanwhile she is on the phone with Tom Grant who isn't doing what he is supposed to. The concierge brings her some Benadryl and her arm stops breaking out. She makes another call to John Silva and tells him that Kurt is going to die, he says there is nothing he can do about that, she asks if he had ever gotten a hold of Krist, he says Krist doesn't feel this is his responsibility. She starts to pack and cancels Kurt's ATM card. The Beverly Hills Police Department shows up after the concierge called 911 -believing she was having an overdose. They search her room, find syringes and other drug paraphernalia. They continue to raid her room, stealing jewelry and find her Attorney's “Ashram Ashes”. Believing it to be drugs and judging by her appearance as being under the influence they arrest her and haul her off to Jail. She finds out a month later that Kurt had called around 7AM on Sunday April 3rd but The Peninsula Hotel never put the call through even though she specifically told them to hold all calls except for her husband. Rosemary picks her up from jail and takes her to Exodus. She leaves Francis with Rosemary. Courtney omits this day in the 1997 book "Courtney Love: The real story".

Meets with Courtney again at the Peninsula hotel. Courtney tells him that she had called in a missing person's report pretending to be Kurt's mother, Wendy O'Conner. As they monitored the progress of the surveillance team in Seattle, they continue working with the credit card company trying to track the use of Kurt's credit card. Someone was still attempting to use the card for various charges.
Courtney advises them that Kurt only stays in the best hotels. They begin calling hotels from listings in the Seattle phone book. Courtney tells them to watch one of the Hotels. She tells Grant that Kurt is suicidal. "Everyone thinks he's going to die,". Grant wonders why she wouldn't want the police or someone go to the room and try to save him.

She wakes up in the Hospital part of Exodus in a room where a television set is tuned to the nature channel. Rosemary walks in and from the look on her face Courtney immediately knows that he had died and assumes he had overdosed because Eric had taken the guns. She doesn't find out until later that Kurt had shot himself. She charters a flight to Seattle and enters into the Greenhouse. This ends Courtney's timeline according to her 2002 online post. Courtney omits this day in the 1997 book "Courtney Love: The real story".

according to Courtney Love
In a 1997 book "Courtney Love: The Real Story", she outlines Kurt's day leading to his final act, also according to the book, for the 7th and 8th she retells the events of Sunday April 3rd and 4th from her 2002 online post.

Friday April 8th, 1994
according to police files
Courtney Love was in fact arrested on the 7th. The report came from the Beverly Hills Police Department and was faxed over to the Seattle Police Department. Courtney Love was later dropped of all charges.

In the April 10th LA Times interview with Courtney Love by Robert Hilburn, which was conducted on Monday April 4th and printed before the 5th, but not published until the 10th, the interviewer states that prior to the interview, Courtney Love had a recent overdose.
Courtney is good friends with Hilburn.
So in her 2002 online post, the events of Sunday April 3rd where she claimed to have had a bad reaction from drugs she had gotten from Niler that led to her arrest that day was actually from the Thursday April 7th arrest.

In a taped conversation between Rosemary and Tom, she informs Tom that Courtney, on Wednesday the 6th, had left a backpack at her house that contained a note that says "get arrested". The following day, she was arrested at the hotel by the Beverly Hills Police Department.

It's clear that Tom was attempting to create an alibi for Courtney by saying that he stayed in direct contact with her while she was in LA. Vouching that he was with her at the Hotel on the 3rd, received a call from her from her Hotel room in the early a.m. hours of the fourth, and chatted with her throughout the night, and was with her at the Hotel room on the fourth during the day.

According to his published book "The Mysterious death of Kurt Cobain", on the early morning of the fourth Courtney called him at his home at 1 AM from the Peninsula. Many of the tape recording come from this morning according to Grant, one being the threeway call with Larry Schemmel about bugging Caitlin Moore's apartment. This is approximately around the exact time that Kurt Cobain was murdered.

Now why did Tom Grant not cover for her Saturday evening April 2nd alibi that she told him about? Why did he stick with having his first contact with her on the 3rd instead of the 2nd? In her 2002 post she claims to have hired Tom on the 2nd. Was it because she didn't want any conflict with her alibi? That's a possible reason why Tom chose the 3rd instead of the 2nd as the day Courtney hired him, if he chose the 2nd it would seal her alibi.
An alibi that was at her disposal, if she expected Kurt to die Saturday and Grant to discover the body and report it and especially if she flew to Seattle (which I believe eventually did on the early morning of the 4th), then she would have good reason for this alibi. Also if Grant was in Seattle on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th he would also need an alibi, hence why he likely chose the third as being the day he was contacted by Courtney.

Keep in mind that she was discussing with and even asking Grant for advice regarding her alibi, she can deny any rumor or confirm any rumor and people will believe her.

A reminder to get arrested needed to be fresh on her mind, once the date was picked for his discovery after all of the clean up and staging, she would want to be incarcerated or hospitalized at that time. Why? for many reasons, one being that the first public reports of his death had stated that he had died the day before, or at least in the past 24 hours.

Tom Grant literally drove the killers of Kurt Cobain to buy two hundred dollars worth of heroin with money he supplied and then drove them to the Lake Washington home the night Cobain died. According to an earlier police report, Kurt Cobain was one time revived by Courtney Love after he showed signs of an overdose from only fourty dollars worth of heroin. In an American-Online post dated sometime in the mid 1990s by Courtney Love, Tom Grant who was once a former bodyguard, was merely a driver that she had hired.

Tom Grant's dirty car included two murderers, two-hundred dollars worth of heroin, and Roofies.

Back to Courtney Love. Why did she place her April 7th arrest to April 3rd in 2002? It was already public knowledge that she was arrested on the 7th.

We know she slips up a lot, her anti-gun statement about Dylan who had a history of mental health issues and that had bought the shotgun on the 6th, giving it to Kurt who shot himself on the 7th is a good example.

She was abusing ambien at the time of her 2002 post, it was not corrected by any book editor, it was unscripted and posted online and within the post she informs the group forum that she will delete it soon. Knowing that Kurt died on the early morning of the fourth, she stuck to her original alibi but mixed it with half-truths by placing her arrest at the Peninsula on the 3rd.
Her account of being treated in the Exodus hospital for substance abuse coincides with the LA Times report that her rehab treatment began on the fourth and not the 7th.

Was she the person Joe claims was seen wearing a red dress in the greenhouse the night he died? No thanks to Chris Todd, Joe believes this was on Easter morning, conflicting with his earlier testimony, and Mark did not have blond hair, is tall and I hardly doubt that he would change into a red dress in the 20 minutes he was up in the greenhouse. It may make some sense if it was to cover up any blood splatter from the gun blast, it would make even more sense for if this was in fact Courtney Love who had the means to travel to Seattle Sunday night and back to LA by Monday to call in the missing person's report.
